You need to spell out more carefully what pledgers to this project are pledging for. If they are just pledging to make it happen, then you should say what costs need to be covered.
As for repaying pledgers, that’s a good idea, and you’ll need to spell out exactly what your plan is to repay funds. Perhaps a 1:2 repayment would be in order given the risk of the event never happening. You need to state your plan up front or you won’t get too many pledgers.
