Nearly every time you IM with someone, you make a mistake typing. Then, to correct it, you always retype the correct spelling, the correct person’s name, watever. Whatever. Wouldn’t it be nice to simply click in the box your IM parter is reading from and make the correction there instead of entering another line of text? Even they can correct the mistake.

Now that’s a project well worth supporting…
but it would have to work in my IM program, which is currently skype and is unfortunately closed-source. Perhaps that’s a good reason for me to change to an open-source IM program, but why don’t you pick a popular open-source client and develop this feature on that program.
You’d have an instant user-base that way, and then the feature would be there … to tempt even the skype authors.
I nominate Jabber… maybe there’s a way to send XMPP metadata to pull this off.
