This project is meant to be a social network that helps Peace Corps volunteers around the world locate resources and expertise that are locally unavailable using the interweb.
Volunteers will post a project and what kind of help they need. If someone can help on the volunteer’s project, they can sign up to offer time/energy/resources.

Is there a typo in the details above? I think you mean ‘available’ rather than ‘unavailble’.
Berwyn, I updated the description, thanks for catching that. Volunteers should first use resources that they can find within their host country, when that is an impossibility, they need to look elsewhere.
This is a great idea.
However you should work on building more of Repository of contacts in the host countries. The current volunteer organizations tend to choose missions that tend to eat up the pockets and the process can seem cumbersome.
I have helped two friends volunteer in Kenya by helping them connect with families that give them a free place to stay and also take them to more places to volunteer giving a diversified volunteer experience.
A great volunteer skill would be for instance learning how to fix water pumps or learning to shallow drill for water in areas affected with water Scarcity. A great non profit offering this kind of training is living water ministries. You don’t have to be of one religion or any religion to attend the training. Google them or check them on

The resources you’ve mentioned are exactly the sort of information I want to provide and in the process build a list of these ideas/people/info for future reference.
I personally could start tracking down all this information, but it would make more sense if it was an automated process. Hopefully this project will do just those that.
