Privacy policy
We hate spam too
April 4, 2007
All microPledge policies are based on mutual respect. We respect you as a person, and we require that you respect us and other users. Consequently, we also respect and protect your privacy. We don’t release your private information to other people or companies.
We try to make it reasonably obvious to you which of your details are public and which are private. For example, your profile page has a section at the bottom listing the details that we keep private, including your email address (by default) and your financial account details.
Email addresses: We have implemented anti-spam measures on your email address so that even if you make it public, spam-bots will be hampered picking it up from the microPledge website.
Your information: Any private information that you provide is kept on a secure server and protected by industry standard SSL encryption. However, we do keep logs of your browsing times and addresses to use for the purposes of statistics and improving our service.
Developer data: We understand that as a microPledge developer, the progress releases that you upload may represent your intellectual property, depending on the project license. We will not publish this data except in accord with the license structure you have agreed to. For example, if you have chosen a proprietary license, progress releases will only be downloadable by your project’s pledgers and will never be released to the general public without your permission.
Cookies: When you browse to microPledge, we send cookies to your computer that uniquely identify your browser and enable you to sign in. You are welcome to set your browser to reject cookies, but you won’t be able to sign in.
Communication: When you send messages to microPledge we retain them in order to process your inquiries and improve our services. Any messages posted on public forums may remain public indefinitely.
Third parties: If a part of microPledge becomes involved with a third party in any form of merger or sale, we will notify you before personal information is transferred and before the Privacy Policy is changed.
We may share information where it is necessary to investigate illegal activities or violations of our Conditions of Use. We may also share aggregated non-personal information with other parties, but will not identify you individually.
Third-party service providers: microPledge uses third-party vendors to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include financial transactions and data storage. They have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but will not use it for other purposes.
Policy Changes: This policy may change on occasion, but we will not reduce your rights without notifying you beforehand and giving you reasonable time to respond.
This policy applies to all microPledge services. If you decide to use our services then any dispute that arises is subject to this Privacy Policy and our Conditions of Use, and will be governed by the laws and courts of New Zealand.
