we need a simple platform independent and usable home NAS product for the novice computer user.

There are dozens of hardware products related to NAS and simple storage. However they face 2 main problems with most setups: 1. usability is a key issue with these devices (most user are now used to simple cell phone like interfaces) 2. The file-system-format wars between macs and PC’s
There have been good attempts by Data Robotics www.drobo.com/ and Server Elements www.serverelements.com/index.p… to bridge these gaps independently.
The need: we need a hardware and software company that is willing to bring both of the benefits provided from these already existing products. Usability is key and the functionality of cross platform usage is a must.

I would be very interested to have this implemented for linux as I ll really like to be able to access drobo connected to a linux server remotely.
