Project details

microPledge has an elaborate mechanism for the developer to indicate, and request payment for, partial progress. This could be useful, but it also breaks the promise, stated in the microPledge help, that “You either get the software or your money back”.

As a developer, I would like the option of making a binding public promise that this feature won’t be used. That is, a button somewhere in the edit project page, with a confirmation but no undo. When this is done, partial progress would no longer be available. This status would then be indicated in the main project page.

This would also mean that there is no way of stalling the project once it is started, so that “You either get the software within the time promised or your money back”.

(I will pledge to this project if the flexible multiple pledges project is completed.)
