Project details

While having trouble how to show the husband of my cousin how to use a computer, lets say network settings or how to install plugins, how to use Google Earth or just how to scan their pc with an viruskiller … he drives me really crazy on the phone because he makes wrong conclusions all the time. The trouble is, he lives around 180 miles from here, so I can’t go over and fix it by myself. If I could show him (hi Gary ;-) in a videofile which he can stop, play again or show it to their children - this would be great for me and for sure for everybody out there who wants to teach somebody something.

The needed application should record simultaniously what I add on information around like “Hold down now the ctrl button on the keyboard and then click here …” recorded with the microphone. The video should be able to record the full screen and there should be also an option for an resizeable mode (if you don’t wanna show what else is on your desktop or in the quick-launch!). Really cool would it be, if you could see on the screen some details during recording. I think about minutes, seconds and hundredth, the actual size in MB and KB (that the file doesn’t get too big for sending by eMail!), the format, size and a equalizer for the audio with some controllers about noise reduction etc. It could look well in a different dark and bright greyscales which white or black as a main color (white & grey or black & grey!).

A great thing could be a timer for lets say 3, 5 or 10 MB, and when the limit is reached, it starts to record another file with the additional filename part-2, part-3 etc.

The video and audiosignal should be also saveable as just video, just audio or combined.

The files should be saveable in various formats.

That would be a great application.

IMHO I would say this should be in any computer embedded in the OS. For Mac it could be a widget or for Windows Vista a gadget.

UPDATE: I found a software which already does that … www.capturelib.com/ for all who are interessted in that kind of software. Will test it and tell u then more about …
