Project details

Take the boy racers off the streets for one day. Organise the renting of the track, insurance, marshalls, security, everything. Sell tickets preferably by auction, so that the highest 50 or so bidders actually get a chance to race their street cars on the track. Legal aspects will have to be covered carefully. Make money for the pledgeholders or at least cover the costs.

This is a great idea. You should try to discuss this with the council, the racetrack owners and the press. They will probably be willing to sponsor this to some extent. They will probably also help you find someone willing to organize the event (unless you wanted to do it yourself).

You need to spell out more carefully what pledgers to this project are pledging for. If they are just pledging to make it happen, then you should say what costs need to be covered.

As for repaying pledgers, that’s a good idea, and you’ll need to spell out exactly what your plan is to repay funds. Perhaps a 1:2 repayment would be in order given the risk of the event never happening. You need to state your plan up front or you won’t get too many pledgers.

The Canterbury Community Trust may also be helpful for funding.
